What Worked
Jiminy Triskets! Where to start! What an amazingly good three hours of wrestling. I guess my fave was FIT FINLAY vs CHRIS FREAKIN BENOIT. There was a WHOLE LOT to love in this match. Jayzeus, THAT was stiffer than anything ever on Monday night (except for maybe the midnight chokers who taped the infamous Nitro Girl incident). Golly! They beat the holy crap out of each other and wrestled the holy crap out of each other and just show how tough two guys can be. They hint at a feud and I would be WAY too into that. BELFAST BRUISER RULES! CANADIAN CRIPPLER RULES! RULES! Watch the diving headbutt in slow-motion and see how a real man takes a bump. WHOMP ASS!! Should have been an hour and a half longer.

REY MISTERIO JR vs DEAN MALENKO was GREAT! They did all the unlikely, weirdo moves that you can never see in any other match anywhere. Rey is godlike. Malenko is godlike. The toprope Rib-breaker was FREAKIN Choice (despite the unlikelness of the set-up, which ya gotta love.) Rey on the mat was great. Dean on the mat is always great. I loved the freaky roll-up sequence, and the finisher was super-fantabulous.

LaParka was great and Glacier was okay, though I have no idea why LaParka is putting Mortal Kombat boy over, but it was a good match despite the cretinous ending. LaParka could be SO over with the slightest push and this match is a good indication. The man has style. Glacier has a really long intro.

Chris Jericho vs Eddy Guerrerro was pretty great for the simple fact that Eddy is incredibly great. Jericho got to hit all the stuff that he isn't afraid to botch and it was neat that they used him blowing the SuperFrankensteiner so completely to set up the psychology of the match. Eddy is finally hitting his stride in WCW and it's a great thing to see. He can carry a good wrestler like Jericho to a REALLY good match and, if in with a great wrestler like Misterio, the classic from Sunday results. Jericho hits the cool standing Liger Bomb/Tigerbomb and Eddy sells the gargatuan released German Suplex like a farkin KING. WOO-HOO!

WHAT IS GOING ON!?!?! Hulk Hogan works his million year old ass off and delivers a real good match with the giant assist from the part-time miracle worker DDP. This was SO much of a real good AWA match with Hogan working stiffer than I've ever seen him work; I was totally amazed. DDP takes the man-sized bumps that started the ball rolling and Hogan actually wrestled this match like he doesn't suck- using old style psychology and hitting some nice AWA elbow drops. DDP leans into all of Hogan's offense and makes him look forty years younger. This was great right up to the crappy screwjob. I don't think it would have been a stretch for the bad-ribbed DDP to put Hogan over clean or for Hogan to put DDP over with his Diamond Cutter- but, actually, that would have caused the earth to crash into the sun. Hell, he put Jacque Rougeau over for less. This is the most I have EVER like a Hogan match. Start this feud up already, DDP can carry him.

Flair vs Savage was good. Savage took the bumps, Flair slapped him around and didn't look a million years old. The young guys lit a fire under the codgers tonight and everybody won.

What Didn't Work
The Steiners vs the Public Enemy sucked a big bunch. Scott Steiners looks like he takes steroids. This really sucked. This really sucked. This really sucked.

Goldberg vs rendered-useless DI was nothing and it set up the horror that will be Mongo vs Goldberg. Welcome to Hell.

The Raven thing would have been better if it was a complete wrestling match. I dug the weirdo offer to Riggs. Raven is getting the crazed bitch thing going so that worked I guess.

The Zbysko/Hall thing is gonna lead to a whole bunch of bad angles disguised as wrestling that leads to fist-sized wads of nothing. YEESH!

There was a lot of yammering between the great wrestling, and since I refused to sit through it, I guess it didn't work on me. So there.:)

THERE YOU HAVE IT.

DEAN!
