Jeff Jarrett did what Shane Douglas couldn't, and that's give the strongest
shoot-style interview ever in the WWF. And he did a darn good job of it.
The material was strong enough to carry it despite Jarrett's mediocre delivery.
Of course, how are they going to put him in the mix now? Is he gonna get
on the house mic everytime he jobs and complain about the booking? Ok, one
thing that didn't sit well was his choice of words in referring to Ahmend
Johnson. I think he could have criticized his unintelligibility in the ring
without mentioning race, and to include "black man" in a list with drug
addict and clown is not right.
Owen Hart vs. Shawn Michaels was a great match that was too short and had
a crappy ending but it was better than the typical, DX run-in, Foundation
run-in, ring the bell so at least they're trying. Michaels has really
redeemed himself for sitting on the sidelines for so much of this year
in the past two months, putting on very good performances on the Ground
Zero and One Night Only PPVs, and possibly his best performance ever when
he really put his body on the line at Badd Blood.
Yoshihiro Tajiri vs. TAKA Michinoku was a great little match. They
beat the crap out of each other and both guys looked good. When's
TAKA gonna do his moonsault outside the ring? It's a great move that
he used all the time in Japan that I haven't seen once yet in his WWF
tenure. The lightheavyweight tournament starts in two weeks (and the week
after RAW will be right here in my hometown so I'm really hoping to see
either of these guys live) and who else doesn't already see the final
being Brian Christopher vs. TAKA? I'm trying to think of who
will be in it and the best I can come up with is an 8-man tournament
with Jerry Lynn vs. Christopher and another re-match of Tajiri vs. TAKA
as the semi-final matches. The other four guys to job in the first round
could be Scott Taylor and/or some Mexicans. They should haved postponed
the tournament until there's more stability in the division because, for
example, one week Pantera's cutting it up with TAKA in the WWF and the
next he's in WCW. If the fans can't follow it they won't care.
Ok, hands up, who's already tired of the new Marc Mero? Come on, I want
the Wild Man, the shooting star press, the good husband. So, he has a
problem with pretending to "be with" Kimberly in WCW but he doesn't have
a problem with pretending to be a complete asshole to his wife in the WWF?
Um, match was ok-ish.
This weeks CKaine segment was hard to watch being such a Mick Foley fan
but he took a couple of nasty bumps that were a guilty pleasure to watch.
The post-show Mankind interview was cool but I just can't get excited about
Kane versus anybody.
Alright, the jobbers are shooting, the inmates truly are running the
asylum. Bad Ass Billy Gunn? Can we get over the ass fetish guys? I really
do like Brian Armstrong, in WCW you could see the cool shark's tooth tatoo
he has around his neck, but this gimmick's going nowhere. And the booking was
really stupid because just weeks ago the Headbangers were the WWF
tag team champions and now they're jobbers to the jobbers to the stars.
Hey, didn't the Godwinns look like they dressed up as a pair of Cactus
Jacks? I have to admit it's an improvement on the overalls. What can I
say about this cluster of a match? At least they gave us three crappy
gangs at once so we didn't have to suffer through them individually.
