Mankind came out and gave a pretty good interview demanding a match with Cain.
Slaughter was made to look like an inept fool once again, especially by
eventually agreeing to sanction the match only after being attacked by Mankind.
I can't see why they've all but let Cactus Jack drop off the face of the earth
after the huge reaction at Madison Square Garden.
Marc Mero and Flash Funk had an ok match, not big on storyline but Mero caught
my attention with his great moonsault and Shazam delivered a really slick one
of his own. I like Mero's finisher and since he wasn't mean to his wife this
week I'll put him in my good book again.
Jeff Jarret gave a much more subdued, pre-taped interview this week. I liked
it just fine, and was only bothered by the fact that they glossed over Jarrett's
mini-run with the WWF in between his initial leaving and his joining WCW.
Jarrett made some strong statements about his ability which I really don't have
a problem with because I'm one of the few who think that Jarrett is capable in
the ring. Interesting that he said he can have a great match that can compare
with any other in the world when he's in the ring with Shawn Michaels. I think
most of the credit in that situation goes to Michaels.
Goldust is back in no storyline limbo which just makes him even more of a
non-entity in wrestling as far as I'm concerned. I'm convinced that Dustin would
instantly be more over if he would just drop the ridiculous looking costume. I
suppose it worked when he was doing his original over-the-top role but now that
he's not doing the character anymore the stupid costume makes even less sense.
Shawn Michaels on commentary kept things alive but the in-ring action was just
another typical Monday night nothing match. My favourite part of the whole deal
was the post-match crotch chopping threesome.
Ahmed Johnson vs. Owen Hart had a really bad intercontinental title match. The
NOD watched on from the stage, yawn, Steve Austin ran-in and gave Johnson a
stunner, yawn, and Hart is disqualified. Yawn. I actually did fall asleep at
this point.
Ken Shamrock vs. Bret Hart was an ok match but considering the participants
and it being their first singles meeting I was disappointed with what they
did. Shamrock has legitimate shooting skills and Hart is touted as the best
technical wrestler in the WWF but they didn't do much actual wrestling except
for some routine working over of the legs to set up each wrestler's submission
hold. I was impressed that Hart would do such a clean "job" for Shamrock by
vigorously tapping out to an ankle lock while the referee was knocked out.
The Shawn Michaels run-in and brawl was decent but nothing special. There's
something amusing about watching Chyna shove down Pat Patterson.
The Black Jacks vs. Bad Gimmick Billy Gunn and Road Dog was bad but short so
relatively painless. Stupid finish. I can't wait to see the Black Jacks in
All Japan's tag team tournament. No really, it'll be cool to see Bradshaw
cut loose and maybe Windham will look good. Or maybe not. Anyway, it looks
like Survior Series will suffer from a Godwinns, Road Dog and Billy Gunn vs.
Head Bangers and Black Jacks match.
Hell is an interview with Paul Bearer and Cain.
The show closers have been pretty bad the past two weeks. This time it's a
boring nothing match between Miguel Perez Jr. & Savio Vega and the Legion of
Doom. The Road Dog and Billy Gunn (they need a team name) came out and tried
to get over with some DX-like antics which goes to show how good Michaels really
is, even when he's just goofing off.
