What Worked
Hey, Road Dog and Billy Gunn have a pretty decent entrance and you can see that their making the most of their push. Now I know it's not saying much but these guys are probably the WWF's best active tag team. The interview was nothing spectacular but gosh darn if they didn't draw real heat.

Aguila vs. TAKA Michinoku had some amazing highspots, the most impressive of all being Aguila's corkscrew moonsault. But as usual it was too damn short! They crammed everything into four and a half minutes, but given, say, ten minutes with better transitions and more matwork it would have been better. I understand that they have Sunny do the ring announcing to draw the crowds interest towards the match but she's such a distraction at ringside that it backfires.

The Degeneration-X fake leg bit was funny. Someone's going to have a seizure from watching their entrance though.

Vader vs. Rocky Miavia was this week's highlight, and it had nothing to do with the match. Austin really riled up the crowd so it was fun to watch with everyone going nuts. TSN must have put the kibosh on the Goldust segment so I only got to see him when he did his run-in here -- god, what a freak, I love it.

I don't care for Marc Mero's wrestling output as of late but the break-up angle with Sable is getting fun because the crowds really do hate Mero. Super heat! Of course, this crowd was hotter than most others recently but still, the Sable chant was just awesome. I'm a family man!

What Didn't Work
The 4-way match didn't have totally idiotic rules which is good but nothing much happened and there was no point to it. Even Jackyl, who I've enjoyed on commentary before, didn't have anything to say. It was nice to see the crowd get jacked up for the 4-way brawl at the finish.

Well, it's more than obvious that the WWF doesn't give a shit about the light heavyweight division and only wants one because WCW has (a better) one too. How insulting it is to these guys to have a semi-final match thrown right out, and Scott Taylor, who's looking good in the ring lately gets jobbed to Kane. Isn't it enough that they used this angle to kill one of the year's best matches (Hell in the Cell)?

Hey, Jeff Jarrett's already back to being the same old goof he was before. Yeah, Just what is there to anticipate in a Jarret vs. Undertaker match? And then to top it all off Slaughter comes out and opens his mouth.

The Headbangers vs. Road Dog and Billy Gunn was pretty uninspired, just going through the motions until the inevitable run-in. I DO like the gimmick of having Dog and Gunn take off in their car after every match though. It's the little things that make Raw sometimes.

Jim Neidhart vs. HHH was short and at least they limited Neidhart's overall suckiness. But heck, what an uninspiring episode of Raw. The WWF is really thin on top right now, and having Neidhart come out to Bret Hart's music isn't going to help any.
