|"A View from the Gallery" with Mack & Bo is one of my new favorites.
It's not Big Picture, heavy on the Story Arcs... almost a throw away as they try to stretch out since Season 4 crammed so much into it. But way back in Season 1 and to a little degree in Season 2, we use to get slices of life on B5 before things when to hell. This show is the Station, the people on it, and the "times" through the eyes of people we've never seen before. Not in the documentary/news/propoganda ways that the show had done before... but just two ordinary joes.
When they first showed up, and through the first first few scenes with them (through the Lunch one), it looked like they'd just be comic relief. In the end they weren't... at which point you started betting on one or both of the Standard Plot Highspots of two characters like this:
* they'd do something awesomely off the charts heroic to save everyone
* one of them would die a sad but heroic death
In the end, JMS didn't go that route either.
Regular joes who have an affinity for each other. Not exactly super genius off the charts great at their jobs... but good plodders who do what need to be done, and seem to be okay with it. They like B5, and like what they see of the command staff.
That us, right?
We're not the creative guys putting the series together, but we're plodding through it, have an affinity for it, and like what we see the "command staff" (B5 Creative and the Performers) doing.
Anyway, something of a throwaway show that hit be as being very enjoyable.
