While historically inaccurate (even when that history is very biased), it looks llike it'll be one beautiful movie to watch. Just seeing clips of the battle scene gives me chills. It's great to hear "Just Like you Imagined" by Nine Inch Nails in a movie finally too (It's my all time favourite instrumental).

Even with gross historical inaccuracies, it is going to be nice to see one of the greatest heroes in all of history (Leonidas) potrayed with the volume turned up. I'm hoping this movie becomes a big success, just in hopes that not only do they pick up the Frank Miller graphic novel, but they also check out the history of the battle of Thermopylae.

I got to watch about 20 minutes or so of footage from this film about a month ago. Kicked my ass. It's absolutely gorgeous. And as a fan of military history (Miller and director Zach Snyder are big fans of military historian Victor Davis Hanson) I found a lot to enjoy despite the fantastical flourishes thrown in the mix (an 8-feet tall Xerxes, anyone?). I only got to talk will Miller briefly afterward, but it's obvious that he has a real obsession with the source material. ... Not often you get to talk Sparta and Thebes with a comic book icon. :)
