While tOA was sleeping, these results have been updated to 1981. Amazing research that took over 30 years to get on paper by Haruo Yamaguchi. Haruo did the first Record Book (The Buddy Rogers Record Book) with Fred Hornsby in the 1980's(?) and has helped with Japanese results for just about every record that followed.--Steve Yohe

Now we just need to get from 1982 through mid-1987 and then one would be able to put together pretty much everything of note. After that, we have the Japanese Wrestling Journal covering almost everything from mid-1987 through 1994, and then loads of results from Dave starting in Aug/Sep 1992.

We should see what exists between 1985-87. If someone already has posted the AJPW and NJPW for that some place, great. If not... it would be great to get.

We have the JWJ starting in 1987, but there are some gaps in that first year. It would be nice to make sure we have all the results.

Since they're out public, one thing we can do is tip Hisa Tanabe to them. He runs Wrestling-Titles.com (which continues the work Gary & Royal started with the Title History books) and Puroresu.com. He's put up JWA, AJPW, NJPW and IWE results on his site when he's been able to find them. Hisa and those sites aren't going away any time soon, and this all covers periods he's interested in.

John why don't you get your JWJs together & type up all the results for us. It would be a good job for you. I know you want to do your part.

Hisa reads the stuff at WC. Results arn't copywrited. He used the Lewis book.

Haruo came to me & asked me to post the results at the Thesz Forum. It had been set up for another historical site, but that person involved took his time because he had better things to do....so I jumped on it. I think it's a major thing & more is coming. 82 is about done.--Yohe

I translated all the AJ results from late 84 to early 87. It is in a notebook, but I can scan them or something. I believe I have several years of NJ results including finishes from 82 to 84. Let me dig up the notebooks and get them scanned.

Sounds like you folks are close to close the gaps and have a complete database of
JWA/Tokyo Pro/IWE/NJ/AJ/UWF etc..

Great to hear!

P.S. I have AJ and NJ attendance's for a TON of shows from the 70s and 80s.
I will make those available as well. TV ratings data from 83 and earlier is harder
For me to find, but I can offer what I already have.

He had been pouring a large sum of money into the project. He even met the President of Brazil during his stay and asked him for support. (Later, this business failed and Inoki was as heavily in debt as he was after his match with Muhammad Ali. This exerted a very bad influence on the management of New Japan and a lot of wrestlers fed up with it and left the company. Inoki ended up being dismissed from his post.)

NOTES: Many people expected Baba would be knocked out by Stan Hansen’s Western Lariat, but he did his best against the wrestler his archrival Inoki had once defeated. Baba also put up a strong resistance against Mitsuo Matsune, the new president of All Japan, who urged him to retire in a magazine interview … 10,500 fans filled the Metropolitan Gymnasium while New Japan attracted only 9,000 fans at the same venue on January 28 ... A lot more people attended all Japan’s shows to see Stan Hansen in major cities than before, but since Baba paid too much to American stars, the business had been in the red. (There was even a report that Stan Hansen earned $10,000 a week.) ... Mil Mascaras left his IWA World title belt at his home in Mexico and wore the ALLL World title belt instead … Baba, Tsuruta and Tenryu flew to the U.S. and wrestled in Kansas, Florida, Georgia and North Carolina for TV taping.

Hopefully he'll get through 1987. After that, we have really good info.

I suspect Hauro isn't a fan of joshi / womens wrestling?

I don't think old time Japanese wrestling fans followed the women. With Hauro he doesn't think much of anything post-1975. Same with Dan Westbrook.---Yohe
