Through 5 games, Chris Paul is averaging 27-6-10 with a slash line of 53%/44%/92%. Even better was this answer to a pretty insipid question during the post-game press conference.

Another Iso Joe game sends the Clips to the brink. Hopefully next year, Doc counters Iso Joe with another Iso star, if you catch my drift. (wink)

Well, Game 7 was the end of an era as the Clips are eliminated by Utah. Come next season, its sure to be drastically different.

However I do expect Chris Paul to return. Doc and the front office will have to rely on him for recruitment/input. And perhaps he'll get the chance to team with one of his buddies.

Good idea. I would love to see DWade and Melo on the Clips next year. That would be... interesting.

So one wonders how the Clippers feel, that the Jazz were swept by Golden State. Maybe they could've stolen a game if they faced them, though with Blake out, that would've been a bit difficult.

I still think Rivers is going to leave the Clips. He didn't stay in Boston, when that stated down hill, why stay with the Clips? Depending on Paul, they're going to be in the Memphis position or worst if they lose anyone important. There big shot at the top is just about over. Maybe it left two years ago.

If I was Paul, I'd want out. He is a top player, but if he doesn't move all anyone will remember is the "2nd round of the playoff" thing. Is there an opening in S. A.? --Yohe

Parker is washed up and hurt, while Mills is a back up. So it's a good place for Paul.

Problem is cap space. They would have to jump through some hoops to do it, and CP3 would need to come for a lot less money. There's also the concern of the jumping through hoops guts the depth of the team, which is a similar issue the Clipps have had.

Apprently the CP3-Spurs rumor might be more realistic than I thought.

http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/19521062/chris-paul-give-strong-consideration-san-antonio-spurs-free-agency-sources

I wonder if this could speed up the process of the Clips being in interested players that wouldve been hard to get with CP3's salary, despite him being a major part of negotications with them

Elsewhere, the Clippers are interested in the services of The Logo.

http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/19501765/los-angeles-clippers-interested-hiring-jerry-west-away-golden-state-warriors

This seems less realistic, although this might be more of a reaction to Magic in the Lakers fold, as the battle for LA begins?

Logo isn't going to the Clippers. No matter how much he has issues with some members of the Buss Family, he's not going to join their cross town rival.

Even if CP3 leaves, the Clippers have a cap mess. They likely would quickly move to lock up Blake, and then figure out how to replace their PG and potentially SG with limited money and assets:

http://www.spotrac.com/nba/los-angeles-clippers/yearly/cap

Resigning Blake is going to cost at least $25M, especially if CP3 leaves and they are desperate. DJ, Crawford, Austin and Johnson are $54M, and $25M for Blake takes them to $80M.

The cap is estimated to be $101M. Unless they renounce CP3, he has a $24M cap hold until he's resigned or moves on. Blake is $21M. JJ is a $11M cap hold until he signs somewhere else unless they renounce him. Mbah a Moute will likely opt out of his contract and look for a raise.

On the flip side, they can renounce CP3, Blake and JJ and get down quite a bit. Bit it's not like there's any folks on the free agent market who collectively can add up to replace CP3, Blake and JJ.

It's a mess.

Which is likely that their plan was to resign CP3 and Blake, then weigh whether they can upgrade either JJ or Mbah a Moute, or do something with their bench. The Clips can resign their own players above the cap and into the tax range, and it's not like Ballmer would care about the tax. It's that those cap holds leave very little room for movement if the plan is to keep folks, and even if they renounce even one (let's say JJ), there still isn't much flexibility.

There is a problem having $26M combine committed next year to Crawford and Austin. They're bench players, and don't exactly add enough to the team to add up to 25% of the Cap.

Woj thinks the Celts might be the landing spot of Blake Griffin.

Also here's an argument why CP3 may not be headed to the Spurs.

And the Clips might be closer to leaving the Lakers and Staples:

Jerry West leaving Warriors to join the Clippers

Wow, Ballmer must have made The Logo an offer he couldn't refuse. Good for Jerry, and sincere thanks for all he did to help build the Dubs. His contributions were immense.

In this article in the SF Chronicle, Bruce Jenkins mentions that The Logo will get $5M a year as a consultant for the Clippers, which is 5x what he made for the Dubs. Can't blame him for accepting that offer. That is a heck of a lot of money, but just a rounding error for Steve Ballmer.

Could DeAndre be traded?

http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/19692703/la-clippers-gauge-interest-deandre-jordan-trade

I've been thinking that getting the Logo aboard, is a great move for the Clips. If he has the power to do, what he did with the Grizz and Warriors, the Clips could look and act radically different than in previous seasons.

But yet they still need CP3. They can do without the others. Perhaps in one year's time, CP3 could be beneficial to...

Nah, I shouldnt say it now.
