So the first Warriors-Cavs game goes to the Warriors. Draymond had his 1st triple double of the season.

They're on some roll with Curry out.

Also on a roll, winning 5 in a row, are the Thunder. They beat the Rockets.

Seems just like Bron, Wade and Bosh, all it took was a few months for the Big 3 in OKC to start gelling. And like I said, as long as they get the 4/5 seed, they'll be fine.

Anyone notice the Warriors suddenly have the best record in the NBA? For a moment it looked like they might have to overcome someone having the home court advantage in both the WCF and Final.

Yep. It's interesting to note that the Dubs have not dominated at home during the regular season like they have in recent years.

2014-15: 39-2 (95.1%)
2015-16: 39-2 (95.1%)
2016-17: 36-5 (87.8%)
2017-18: 13-4 (76.5%)

Here are their playoff records:

2014-15: 9-2 (home), 7-3 (road)
2015-16: 11-3 (home), 4-6 (road)
2016-17: 9-0 (home), 7-1 (road)

The Rockets were 4-2 at home and 2-3 on the road during the playoffs last year.

So, I guess the conclusion is that home court is certainly nice to have, but perhaps not essential. I would expect Kerr to rest guys when necessary, even at the possible expense of home court advantage. Houston will be an interesting case. Harden really wants to win the MVP, so I don't see him taking off any games if he's healthy.

He actually is one of the unpredictably entertaining superstars in the league.

Last night Marcus Smart provoked James Harden to a huge Celtics comeback win.

Despite the brutal schedule that's ongoing, they're en route to some awards this June.

Make that 14-5 after a horrible loss to the Hornets. Curry is expected back tomorrow against the Grizzzz.

A modest return for Curry....

38 points. And 10/13 from 3-point land.

There's been some talk of Durant being a leader for the MVP. I can't see it, despite his performance during Curry's absence. I got Bron as the MVP. Mainly for how he's been carrying the Cavs with a weaker roster and him having one of his best statisically seasons so far.

It's Beard vs Bron for the MVP right now. Houston has cooled off a bit, and jobbing in back-to-back games where he tossed up 50 points didn't help.

A few weeks ago, Harden was the clear favorite. LeBron has certainly closed the gap and may have inched ahead. Back on December 5, Tim Bontemps of the Washington Post queried 105 media members for their MVP choices. Harden got 73 first place votes to LeBron's 24. I should note that Mr. Bontemps ran the same poll last March, and Harden was still ahead of Westbrook at that time. Westbrook went nuts the last month and Harden hurt his wrist, and obviously RWB went on to win the MVP.

Beard may also may miss time, or try to play through the hammy and mess it up a bit more. If this team plays well with CP3 running it while Beard is out, that will help Bron as well.

Bron hasn't won it since 2013, after which they got tired of giving it to him every year. It may be a factor this year that they will have learned the error of their ways and give him a 5th.

Harden out for 2 weeks due to his hamstring. They face Golden State on Thursday so their rough couple of weeks might get a bit more rougher.

Here's another Fultz update:

So still no word on when he'll be back. A disappointing freshman year for sure.

Cavs have lost 3 in a row and naturally fingers are pointed at lots of different individuals.

https://sports.yahoo.com/lebron-james-cavaliers-arent-page-agendas-211027033.html

Its going to get worse with games the next couple of weeks against the Warriors, Thunder and Spurs.

I recently thought there was a chance Bron would stay with the Cavs for next year and beyond, despite his various mind games, but now he might be headed west next season. Even if it means putting up with Lavar.

Well they did keep it interesting, but ultimately lost again to the Warriors.

If this keeps up, at best the Cavs might be the 3rd seed this year. After the Celts, and Toronto. There's also the chance, teams like the Bucks and Wizards sneak past them as well.

And more infighting has started:

https://sports.yahoo.com/cavaliers-players-send-anonymous-message-front-office-need-help-165648277.html

https://www.sbnation.com/nba/2018/1/16/16897530/cavaliers-roster-players-trade-upgrades-front-office-lebron-james

During the game last night Webber was speculating on who might join them via trade. With the Clips now in the playoff picture, I would assume Lou Williams and Deandre Jordan are staying. Maybe Cousins moves. That would further turn the lockerroom more chaotically.
