Clips made a few moves these past couple of days. Trading Landry Shamet to the Nets.
And with Harrell going across the hall, they resigned Marcus Morris to a 4-year, 64 mil deal. That's quite the deal there. |

Another one of Doc's trusted bench players is gone, as Jamychal Green is headed to Denver.
Seems as if most of the reserves, excluding Lou Williams, will be a different team compared to last year's team. |

They did shore up the front court with the signing of Serge Ibaka, Kawhi's pal from Toronto |

Ouch. Heading into FA, my #1 hope was that Serge would go into our MLE. Thought that he could eat up all the combined McGee+Howard minutes, with some minimum player being the back up, and basically AD taking the "small" minutes.
When we got Harrell, my thought was that Serge wanted more $$$$. That he ended up with the Clippers... I'm not sure how happy I am. |

It seems Batum is going to be headed there. Don't know how much he has left in the tank. |

His defense rated very highly:

Which is likely what the Clippers are looking at. Key there is the A-level Defensive Positional Versatility, which means he can defensively cover a wide variety of positions. That lets the Clippers deploy him in a variety of slots. They may need him more and be able to tell him there's more playing time relative to what the Lakers can offer. We're kind of tight in non-Load Management minutes... at least until the Kuzma issue sorts out.
The question with him is if he has any offense left. That's really hard to judge based on last season. He broke a finger and then re-injured it before eventually being benched for good. He'd been a 13-6-5 on .421/.350/.850 3&D player the prior four years with the Hornets, which is pretty acceptable. Not high end 3P%, but he also was a Wing who rebounded some and was got some assists. That's a much higher level of assists and rebounds than say Danny Green, who was king of a definative 3&D wing.
The other nice thing about Batum is that he's 6-9 Wing SG/SF. That's a ton of length. He's also 32 next year, which is what Green was this year.
For an experienced flyer on a minimum contract for the deep bench, I think he's the type of player that a real Championship Contender takes a flyer on to fill out the deep bench. Someone that if you have a specific emergency and need during the year or maybe in a couple of playoff games, you could go to. We're talking 11th or 12th player on the roster, which isn't Key but instead potentially Useful. Since the Lakers have been largely focused on upgrading the non-Bron & AD aspects of the Offense, I kind of liked another good defensive hand on the deep bench.
The Clippers got someone who could be useful. The Lakers are still a pretty big favorite at the moment. |

They re-signed Reggie Jackson today, who had a lot of moments in the postseason that he should forget. |

The Lakers were a shit-show before last year. They aren't now. But just try to remember back then.---Yohe |
