American Gangster and Gone Baby Gone not getting nominated for Best Picture surprised me. Both were fantastic films. No nomination for Ben Affleck for Gone Baby Gone wasn't a surprise due to how packed that nomination was, but seeing it was his first foray, I wouldn't be surprised to see him nominated for one of his next projects. |

"Gone Baby Gone" got zero votes from the 15 wonks at MCM, and they went down to 10 guesses for Best Picture. They had Diving Bell in over Atonement, but that was the bubble.
Y'all are just Affleck marks :)

That is rather surprising. It makes Ratatouille the overwhelming favorite, and Persepolis the sole dark horse. Simpsons would have made it an interesting race.

Oscar winners
Not much shock there. Tilda Swinton may be the only upset.
Sadly Juno won one Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, which it deserved to win. Hopefully next year, we get another quirky sleeper nominee like Juno and Little Miss Sunshine. |
