|So I stumble on an article in the Washington Post about the Noir City DC
film festival. It's running from Oct 17-Nov 5th, they say. So I check the
calendar... and see a lot of pink.
The series runs in 3 segments. The main part runs from the 25th to the
29th. Then they take 2 days off and share the next 3 with the Halloween
films, wrapping up on the 5th. So it actually looks like they run from the
25th to the 5th.
So why do they say 17th? They have a few showings of Double
Indemnity on the 17th-19th, and a single showing of Detour on the 23rd,
with the rest of the 18th-24th actually being the Reel Affirmations LGBT
Now, what probably happened is that they could only get the print for
Double Indemnity on the 17th-19th, and thus extended the official length
of the Noir festival by a week. But I figure most people wanting to
see a double feature with it weren't expecting it to be paired with
