Hey everybody! Haven't stopped in here in a while.

I want to share my hometown indy promotion here in the Maritimes. These are the last four shows from 2011. Check them out if you're interested. Would love to know what people from elsewhere think.

Meltdown

Hybrid Halloween
Season Finale

Enjoy!

Four-Way Tag Team Madness: Super Dragon & Kevin Steen vs. Super Smash Bros. vs. RockNES Monsters (Johnny Goodtime & Johnny Yuma) vs. The Young Bucks

PWG Title: El Generico (Champion) vs. Eddie Edwards (Challenger)

Davey Richards vs. Kyle O'Reilly
Willie Mack vs. Roderick Strong
Scorpio Sky vs. TJ Perkins
Candice LeRae vs. Joey Ryan

Hmmm... Generico vs Edwards for the Title, with Generico looking for revenge since Edwards was the last person to beat him?

Davey and Dragon missed the show, so from the results it was retooled. And James' fear of a New Champion came to pass...

With no partner, Steen was pulled from the Four-way Tag and dropped into an altered Title match, leading to a New Champion...

Steen again. Not Eddie as James feared. :P

Still, it's a little odd since they just put the belt of Generico in October and he had just one defense (over Togo in December). He hadn't held the belt since 2007, so you'd think he'd be given a longer run with it for some semi-fresh title matches.

Which makes the DDT4 tag tourney on 4/21 odd. The teams are:

Adam Cole & Kyle O'Reilly
Roderick Strong & Sami Callihan
Joey Ryan & Scorpio Sky
The Young Bucks
Fightin' Taylor Boys
Super Smash Brothers
RockNES Monsters
Kevin Steen & Super Dragon

And no Generico.

So Steen pined Edwards & not Generico to win title. Terrible booking. Makes me sick.

When is Willie Mack going to win the title.

This is begining to feel like a bullshit promotion that just puts over local talent. The future doesn't look good.

So I caught the double bill of Chikara and ROH in Chicago Ridge on Saturday. I was afraid at the beginning that it would be just too much wrestling, but it all worked out.

CHIKARA

This was my first exposure to it, and it was alright. It was general admission, and my friend and I were late to the show, so we were as far back as we could be in the gymnasium they were using.

The wrestling was fine, but too many of the guys blended in together, and too few of the matches had a clear through point. For instance started off with an eight man where everyone was wearing masks and the color schemes didn't help identify who was aligned with who. And while their website is fun in its comic book layout, drawings of guys didn't make id'ing them in real life any easier.

This was also my first exposure to Kevin Steen, and I enjoyed his trolling ways, coming down in a far too small for him tiger mask.

ROH

This show ended up being much better. Part of that was we had actual seats, rather than GA, and sitting four rows away from the rings is just more fun. Despite not recognizing many guys from previous shows, the personalities stood out a lot better than during Chikara, and the Steen trolling continued, coming out in his Colt Cabana t-shirt with a tennis racket featuring Sheamus.

I made it back to the Shindy Capitol of NY State, Binghamton for one of the most shindy card I've ever seen. There was a good brawl between Steve Corino and local wrestler IB Green, a fun 3 way after intermission, and the main event was Matt Hardy vs. Johnny Gargano with Matt getting legit busted on the post (when he hit, it rang like a bell rather than the usual smacking sound.

The rest of the card however, left a lot to be desired. The "highlight" for the friend I was with was watching two guys work a spot where one is on his knees and the other kicks him in the chest. After each kick the guy on his knees more than audibly says "do it again" and then the guy standing did the slowest roundhouse kick ever, a paraplegic could have gotten out of the way in time.

ROH's Rhett Titus, who I've seen can put on good matches, had an insomnia curing affair with one of the local boys.

We were actually good friends the guy putting on the show, and we didn't want to be assholes and tell him his show sucks, so we just snuck out afterwards. But another friend and his big mouth stooged off to him that we said the show sucked. I'm actually going to see him tonight at a show in Syracuse (John Morrision vs. Sami Callihan), so I'll find out if there's any heat. :)

Woohoo! Finally located a promotion in Denver. It's a good hour's drive from me, but their next show is on 8/17. They do bring in some lower TNA guys, and they have had Eric Young and Boogeyman.

I am hoping I can get over there and check it out.

Went to the first night of the PWG Battle of LA tonight. It was about 90% full. All first RD matches:

1-TJ Perkins over Joey Ryan
Heel Ryan asked the crowd who was going to be the Tournament. Everyone in the building thought Willie Mack was going to win. Perkins I like a lot. Good wrestling, balance & uses leverage really cool. Too bad he's so small. Ryan jokes round like he's Larry Zbyszko. I thought the match was good but it ended up one of the worst of the night. I thought this was a mild upset but they haven't pushed Joey sense he got hell for winning in 2010.

2-Roderick Strong over Drake Younger
It was good.

3-Eddie Edwards over Kyle O'Reilly
One of Edwards best matches. John & James hate him but Williams was in Washington DC having his yearly sex break. I missed the John who drives. Freeway was a mess. I don't understand people who live on the West side of LA. All of them are rich with hot cars & it's bumper to bumper. To me, Reseda looks like East LA with less Mexicans replaced by porn stars & bad drivers. I'm staying in Montebello until I die. If I do get rich, I'll move to Arcadia with John.

4-Brain Cage over B-Boy
Probably the worst of the night..but still Ok. Watching B-Boy who I guess is Mexican...I was thinking about how strange in was to see a wrestling card in LA with so little Lucha. It's nothing like lucha. Then I remembered El Generico....but I don't accept fake Mexicans. B-Boy was the worst performer of the night, but not bad. He seemed upset he got no reaction from the crowd.

5-Sami Calihan pined Willie Mack
The finish was a shock...even to me & I don't like Mack. He reminds me of Rufus R. Jones or S D Jones. Need to lose 20 pounds. Still good. Huge upset in the hall.

6-Ricochet over PWG champ Kevin Steen
Another big upset but by then I was looking for it. They're trying to push Ricochet. Steen kicked the shit out of him for most of the match. Crowd was into it. Might have been the best match. Brain Cage did a run in to screw Steen, so Steen said he was do for a prison rape. Figure Steen with screw Cage tomorrow. At this point I figured Ricochet was going to beat Generico.

7-Adam Cole over El Generico
Another huge shock. I had never seen Cole & he was a pretty good old fashion heel. Another good match.

8-Michael Elgin over Davey Richards
Great match. Might have been 25 minutes. Stiff bunch of false finish's. Elgin won clean. Wonder if Richards is booked somewhere tomorrow. Bet a number of the losers are.

So Steen. Generico, Richards, Mack, Joey are gone...all the hometown guys. Don't know what they'll do tomorrow. I think Ricochet will win tournament. Great card...everything was good or better.

Night 2--Smaller crowd that Saturday--Like 85% filled.

1-Sami Callihan over T J Perkins

2-Michael Elgin over Brian Cage
Battle between the two strongest guys in the tournament. Steen saves Elgin & then Elgin destroyed Cage with 3 powerful power bombs. Steen return to beat on Cage---The Jacksons do a run in & referee Rick Knox gets involved & beaten up--the Generico comes in. Knox wants a 6 man vs The Jacksons & Cage. He gets Generico to says yes but Steen flips off Generico & leaves.

3-Adam Cole beat Eddie Edwards

4-Ricochet over Roderick Strong

5-Willie Mack & Drake Younger & B-Boy
over
Davey Richards & Kyle O'Reilly & Joey Ryan
A comedy match with Richards & O'Reilly doing Ryan's sleaze gimmick.

Semi-finals

6-Adam Cole over Sami Callihan
Cole is traditional type heel with a few good moves thrown in. He's in the same line of wrestler as Buddy Rogers, The Destroyer, and Ric Flair. He even won the match clean with a good looking figure-4. I bet he thinks he's doing Flair but it's really Rogers. I popped for the finish. It was the first match won clean with a figure-4 in Los Angeles sense The Destroyer beat Salvador Lothario on Feb. 21, 1973 at The Olympic Auditorium.

7-Michael Elgin beat Ricochet
Elgin is a monster with a bunch of different suplexs & powerpombs. A big Benoit type. He throws Ricochet all over until the end when Ricochet does all his "stuff". He did the dive over the corner and the corner post on to the floor. He went so far it looked like he landed in the woman's bathroom. The ending had Elgin turning it around & destroying Ricochet with a two very stiff powerbombs. Best match of the night. Great.

8-EL Generico & Rich Knox & Kevin Steen over The Jacksons & Brian Cage
It was 3 on 2 until the faces got in trouble & Steen came in. Very good. The crowd loved it. Knox did good. At the end, Steen & Generico still hate each other.

Final

1-Adam Cole over Michael Elgin to win tournament
Very stiff good match. Elgin was great & the star of the weekend. Cole won clean with a German suplex. Cole did a speech right out of Buddy Rogers old promo book & hit Steen with the title belt to set up the next card. To me it looked like Steen was using his KOR belt tonight. It looked better tonight anyway.

Both nights were fantastic.
