So the Knicks have little money to make impact free agent signings:

http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/19965053/new-york-knicks-sign-second-year-guard-ron-baker-9-million-deal

How very Knicksesque of them. All that can change though with a Melo trade.

The Knicks have their man for their general manager position:

http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/20004159

Not that bad a hire actually. But it seems he already has a problem with someone who appears to be staying now:

http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/20014663/new-york-knicks-put-carmelo-anthony-trade-talks-hold-want-back

remember they signed Hardaway to that big deal.

Still nothing on Melo. In the meantime, Michael Beasley will be in the mix:

Perhaps the main reason why Porzingis skipped the exit interview this past summer:

So Knicks training camp starts next week. Which means media day as well. And still a part of the Knicks is Melo. But if the GM and front office are to believe, hes not a focal point of their long-term plans:

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2734461-carmelo-anthony-omitted-from-knicks-gms-long-term-plan

Also Portland might be in the mix for Melo now.

And the Cavs are back in the mix. As well as the infamous "mystery team", which alleglly is the Thunder.

And the Melo era ends:

http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/20793120/new-york-knicks-agree-trade-carmelo-anthony-oklahoma-city-thunder

The hilarious thing about this trade is that they got a 2nd rounder instead of a 1st. They must have really wanted to deal Melo so bad, that they wouldve agreed on any pick, just to set him free.

And now its Porzingis' team. Hes the focal point of this team. The way it should be.

Well the Knicks did make it a game for a half or so, against Melo in his 1st game against the Knicks:

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/knicks/carmelo-struggles-okc-future-brighter-knicks-article-1.3575627

The main befuddling thing from last night was that Herangomez who was on the all-rookie team last year only played the last three minutes. He wasnt on the injury report. Just strange and wacky rotation management there. And when Noah returns from his suspension, thats going to be another big man in the rotation.

At least Porzingis looked like a stud. THats going to be the best part of the season. Seeing him dominate.

Congratulations to the Knickerbockers for winning their second game of the year. THJ had 34 and Porzingis 32 to beat (rout, actually) the Cavs in Cleveland. The Cavs were probably still getting over their New Orleans hangover and are now under .500 at 3-4. They have had some serious defensive issues early in the season.

Not to mention injuries, chemistry issues and the like. And Derrick Rose as the PG. Boy its like the Knicks just routed a mini-version of their team from last year.

Hardaway needed that game. He hasnt had much of an impact so far this year. And he's another player who is going to be under the microscope in NYC. Perhaps more than any of his teammates due to the contract he possesses.

And yet Hernangomez is still a DNP-CD. Part of me thinks this could be a "stick it to Phil" move since Phil drafted him and actually had a lot of success with him last year.

.500. Impressive given their shoddy start. Now to see if they can keep it up. My pick of them qualifying for the playoffs doesnt seem that out there, as long as Porzingis is healthy and dominating.

They came back from 19 down to beat the Pacers. Porzingis had 40 points.

Over .500 for the first time this year.

Impressive.

What a crushing loss tonight. They were leading the disinterested Cavs by 23 and lost the game.

The buildup to this game had Bron questioning why the Knicks drafted Dennis Smith instead of Nikitina. And Enes Kanter passionately defended his player. Lebron backtracked by saying he meant Phil jackson. But the damage was done. There was a great altercation during the game with Bron, Nikitina and Kanter defending him again.

Still failing to finish the 23-point lead hurts.

Yeah, the last 14 minutes of that game sucked. The post-game Q&A would have been much more interesting if the Knicks could have held on.
