Perhaps the biggest breakout superstar in the WWE as of late is not who you think it is. Its Zach Ryder. Who's succeeding on his own thanks to his Youtube series "Long Island Iced Z"

http://www.youtube.com/user/LongIslandIcedZ

Its quite funny actually and very different from what is in the WWE nowadays. Only thing is its not helping him get a TV push. Despite glowing endorsements every week from John Cena, the Miz etc. And his episodes getting 100,000 views a week, which is double and triple the amount of views the WWE.com webshows get on Youtube.

What makes it worse is that the WWE doesnt seem to enjoy Zack's success. Some of the fans' signs concerning Zack have been confiscated as of late. Not a good sign at all.

Hopefully the WWE listens to the online audience and gives Zach a sympathy push.

Won't happen.

If Vince didn't create it, Vince won't push it (unless you drew a lot of money for him and you left WWE on good terms).

If anything, Zach will get his release that much faster because of this.

I know I shouldn't be surprised, but if you only get an extra 10 people to show up because you put Zach Ryder on TV, isn't that still money? I get being more invested in your ideas than other people's, but he's already paying the guy. You might as well try to recoup the cost

So last night's RAW was in Ryder's home of Long Island and yet despite it being his home, and despite the show being 3 hours long, Ryder was not seen on RAW. Just a cruel mindfuck by the WWE. After teasing that he was going to do something big on RAW with a hilarious montage on his webshow, they dropped the ball again. And you would think with Steve Austin on RAW who has endorsed him on Twitter that he would get a bit of a rub last night but no sign of Zack.

He did tape a match on Superstars but thats a far cry from the millions who watch RAW.

It's no wonder why long time fans have given up on the product and moved on. Vince and his minions just don't listen to the fans and don't give a shit about what fans want. Ryder is doing 100k+ views on youtube w/his videos. Last weeks WWE produced and distributed NXT on youtube has been seen by less than 8k people.

Last night I was yapping w/my buddy over skype while watching hockey game and we brought up how much Monday Night Wrestling meant to us and how it's become totally skippable. He flipped over and said that Piper was on and as much as I LOVE Rowdy Roddy I stuck and stayed w/4 goal lead in a hockey game because I know the thing with Piper will go nowhere and it's 60/40 they will probably embarrass him.

Ryder is doing what the WWE used to do with these vignettes that are building him up and he is using new media to do it. Not having him feature in his hometown on a 3 hour Raw is just ridiculous.

I really want to still be a fan but the people that produce wrestling just don't care about what their fans want.

There's two points to Ryder being kept off of TV I've read:

1. They had him memorize a promo and planned to have him in a segment and instead told him they weren't doing it. This was explained as both a rib by Vince and punishment for him putting down the company in his youtube videos in a subtle way (his comments on not getting pushed).

2. They had him in wrestling gear the entire night and told him he'd have a dark match main event segment with Cena and Austin, only to tell him to stay put when they ran it.

Either way, this along with the Mark Henry story shows you the company has nothing redeeming left to talk about. TNA doesn't even do this shit to its talent. Well, they do have Matt Hardy beat both Young Bucks and then have Bischoff pin them, but even that's better treatment than keeping Ryder off TV or cutting Henry's mic during a house show and having him stand around not sure what to do "as a rib".

The main thing I read about Ryder's lack of appearance was that "Vince hates the internet". Which doesnt make sense considering how they mention Twitter over a hundred times a show now. And how storylines are "trending topics all week long"

Perhaps Ryder being over without a lack of support from the WWE is why he wasnt used. Which the WWE frowns upon.

But there could be truth to this because on his great weekly webshow this week, Ryder mentioned how he's on the WWE backburner.

So at last night's Smackdown taping, HHH Pedigreed Zach Ryder in a move that really comes off as petty:

Quote:
Triple H's music hits. I am a huge Triple H fan. I have him in my top 5 best wrestlers ever list. I had not seen him live in any capacity in a very long time, so what happened here made the whole night. I do not know how much of the following will be shown on Smackdown, if any, but here is what happened:

Triple H comes out and Zack Ryder is still in the ring. Hunter then tells him that he is still kind of new to being the COO, and he has only been at this a couple of weeks and it is a lot of stress. He explains to Ryder that when he made him Teddy Long's assistant, all he meant was for Ryder to fetch coffee, sharpen pencils. (Zach Ryder's expressions of shock were priceless.). Hunter then tells Ryder that if Teddy Long's Viagra prescription ran out, Ryder was to go to the drug store to go get it, and things like that.

Hunter then gets all annoyed with Ryder talking about Vince and the board of directors and such. He then does something really cool. Hunter says that he needs to do something but it was just for the audience, and we were not to tell anyone. He put his finger to his lips shushing us. The lights were turned off. The huge screen was turned off. The only light that was on was the red light ( I presume that is the recording light.) and a spot light. Triple H then took off his jacket, and loosened his collar. He says something to Ryder that I didn't catch, and then gives Ryder the Pedigree, and the crowd just exploded. Of course, he tried to shush us again, and walked to the back and did his pose. Great segment

Clearly HHH is upset that Zack got over on his own via unusual circumstances and did his burying bit to show who's in charge. He also buried him in an interview earlier this year.

And this is just as Zach is finally notching TV time. Appearing on both main shows. Getting praise from everybody, including the Rock.

I just hope this momentum can continue and he wont be put on the backburner again.

corrado is a fan of his. Has been for some time.

We all have wrestlers we like that others might scratch their heads at. I just watch all the 1994 AJPW Carnival stuff that's available, which covers 10 cards. There were six complete/near complete Baba matches on it, and damn if I didn't enjoy Baba in pretty much all of them.
