He must have had something wrong with him before the match or he had some health problem. I didn't see anything & he died so fast. I really feel sorry for Oscar. You know how people talk.---Yohe |

People have been talking like idiots, and Oscar got death threats shortly after it happened. :(
The initial reports on the cause of death were "cervical spine trauma", and that's why I said it's just about the most inexplicable thing you've ever seen. Everything looks so standard in what they do/did.
He's clearly "out" when he drapes across the ropes. Konnan's actions are ones of thinking Perrito was "out" in the sense of getting knocked out or passing out, as he's trying to revive him rather than checking on it being something really serious. It's only over time that he realizes it's something more. |

Wrestler died almost instantly from injury in ring
Quote: | An autopsy has found that "lucha libre" wrestler Pedro Aguayo died almost immediately of injuries suffered in the ring over the weekend, Mexican authorities said Wednesday.
Aguayo, the 35-year-old son of retired wrestling legend Pedro "Perro" Aguayo, had three fractured vertebrae and was dead by the time he reached a hospital, said Gilberto Cota Alanis, deputy prosecutor for Baja California state.
Medical staff there tried for 90 minutes to revive Aguayo, Cota Alanis said.
Aguayo was injured during a match in Tijuana, apparently after being launched out of the ring and then, soon after, receiving a flying kick to the shoulder and neck from fellow wrestler Oscar Gutierrez, better known as Rey Mysterio Jr.
Video footage showed Aguayo hanging motionless from the ropes unattended as the bout continued for about two more minutes before other wrestlers and the referee realized he was seriously injured.
He was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead around 1 a.m. Saturday. |

Quote: | The autopsy report from the Baja California Attorney General's Office said that Perro Aguayo Jr. fractured his C-1, C-2 and C-3 vertebrae in his neck and passed away on the way to the hospital, which contradicted the report he was alive while at the hospital. They could not pinpoint exactly what happened to do so, but said it was two different moments of impact and that no level or speed of medical treatment would have made a difference. The Mexico City commission noted that Aguayo Jr. had been given a complete physical 15 days earlier (probably the night of the 3/6 AAA show in Mexico City) and he was fine. (thanks to Cubsfan)
Rey Bucanero said he talked with Rey Mysterio Jr. and said Mysterio Jr. told him that he is leaning toward retirement. Mysterio Jr. is scheduled to be in Santa Clara tonight which would be his first public interview and in San Jose later for Wrestlecon. |

Quote: | Despite reports to the contrary all over the Internet today, Rey Mysterio made it clear tonight at the WaleMania event that he has no plans to retire.
Rey Mysterio, Konnan and Dave Meltzer are doing a Q&A tonight at Taste Nightclub in Santa Clara, CA, prior to a concert featuring Wale. More info can be found at WaleMania.com. |
Which is kind of odd since "all over the internet" included Dave posting what Bucanero said.
