Very cool that you were able to see the game with your sons. Even before you mentioned Lonzo and Fox, I was thinking about their career arcs. Obviously Lonzo was the more heralded prospect going into the draft, and he ended up going 2nd, with Fox being picked 5th. Then again, Fox out-played Lonzo the two times they met in college. Last year, both shot poorly, but I think Lonzo impactly the game more positively than Fox and probably had the better year. This year, Fox seems to have really stepped up his game. He's shooting 49% FG (up from 43% last year) and 41% 3PT (up from 33%). His assist and rebound numbers are also up, even on a rate basis. Lonzo has not been very good so far this year, though to be fair, he missed the pre-season while recovering from his knee injury. For whatever reason, his defense has been quite a bit worse compared to last year.

So, who will ultimately have the better year and career? To me, it's a complete toss-up at this point.

It's more of a sure bet that Fox will be around for years. Ball is still being judged & hasn't come near being at his top of his game. Ball has way more hype behind him. But if both guys took their talent to it's top level, Ball would be a much better player. ---Yohe

Never in doubt. I am not a fancy basketball analyst, but I would recommend to LeBron that he start making his free throws down the stretch of close games. Luke/Magic/Pelinka probably owe a nice gift basket to the Suns, too.

From Ben Golliver's Twitter

Lakers' LeBron James at the FT line this season
- 1st Q: 72%
- 2nd Q: 76%
- 3rd Q: 79%
- 4th Q: 74%
- Clutch FTs in last 5 mins: 58%
- Clutch FTs in last min: 44%
- Clutch FTs in last 30 secs: 38%

(Clutch = game within 5 points)

Having Javale or Chandler out there the entire game is beyond huge. Game-changer defensively.

Yep. There may be times and opponents to go small, but having Chandler to go to is a big improvements.

Need those two to stay healthy. It also will have issues come the playoffs, if we make the playoffs. Need to beat the jobbers, and with more ease than we showed against the Hawks (who really suck).

LeBron is so good, itís frightening.

Rondo down. Lonzo time.

14-8 by the end of the month. Then figure it out.

Super soft sport of the schedule until the last week of the month. Beating the Blazers again is big in this run as it's the only good team until the Jazz, Nuggets and Pacers. Need to beat the jobbers, but also need to be able to prove that you can beat good teams.

Have to win today in Miami now.

Guess they got caught looking forward to 3 nights in Miami.

Lonzo and Kuzma are annoying the shit out of me.

The defense hasn't been very good so far when LeBron shares the court with either Lonzo or Kuzma or both. Do you guys ever play around with the ON/OFF stats on NBA.com? It's a great way to waste a couple of hours. Here are a few different scenarios:

The linking isn't working properly right now so I will just provide the URLs that you will need to cut and paste into your browser.

LeBron and Lonzo ON/OFF
https://stats.nba.com/impact/advanced/#!?LineupIDs=2544&VsLineupIDs=1628366&TeamID=1610612747&VsTeamID=1610612747

LeBron and Kuzma ON/OFF
https://stats.nba.com/impact/advanced/#!?LineupIDs=2544&VsLineupIDs=1628398&TeamID=1610612747&VsTeamID=1610612747

LeBron, Lonzo, and Kuzma ON/OFF
https://stats.nba.com/impact/advanced/#!?LineupIDs=2544&VsLineupIDs=1628398~1628366&TeamID=1610612747&VsTeamID=1610612747

You can see that LeBron's defensive rating is better when those guys are off the court vs on. If you scroll down, the stats show that most of their teammates have better defensive ratings when Lonzo and Kuzma are not on the court with LeBron. You can also see how much the Lakers need a center defensively when LeBron is on the court.

LeBron and JaVale ON/OFF

LeBron and Chandler ON/OFF

We're one step closer to a Jr Smith/Melo package deal.
