well Bron gets his man as AD goes to the Lakers for #4, Josh Hart, Brandon Ingram, and Lonzo. They kept Kuz.

Im assuming this is going to be long-term because this was one of the teams Davis was willing to play for long-term. So with the Warriors in limbo, one would assume that this year's Lakers squad is bound to have a better outcome than last year's.

Perhaps Jimmy Butler could be an addition as well? Or Perhaps Lebron's old running buddy.

Still the Lakers.

Fuck everybody.

What happened to Danny Aingeís war chest? Fuck Boston. The war continues.

Apparently the Celtics said no to Tatum being included in the trade.

Good Deal! Sure put water on the dumpster fire. Does Walker play D? & how much money do we still have? This trade will make people want to play here. Lets fill in the holes. I'm feeling good about everything.

What's the fucking big deal about losing Ball? He wasn't shit & we needed to get away from that bush league family. Always hurt & a point that can't shoot FT. The guy was a dog. Just hype.

Our #4 and two #1s in the next two years. No problem....deal. We look to be good in the next two years.--Yohe

Heís representing us at the wake of the next great Celtics Dynasty.

Despite his dislike of them, jdw was a believer in Danny Aingeís war chest. Glad he went to the Viking funeral.

Father's Day with my folks. Haven't had much time to think through the trade.

Happy to have AD. We still have the same idiots in the front office, so I don't have blind faith that it's a given they're going to fill out the roster in an effective fashion.

Lakers GM Rob Pelinka Is Reportedly Learning How The Salary Cap Works In Real Time

For fuck's sake. This guy was allegedly a top agent (really he wasn't) before becoming the GM of a top NBA team... and the fuckhead doesn't know the cap rules, or have his trades proposals checked out by a Capologist ahead of time?

Seems there might be a return no one thought possible:

https://www.silverscreenandroll.com/2019/6/22/18713681/nba-free-agent-rumors-magic-johnson-dangelo-russell-lakers-brooklyn-nets-kyrie-irving

It seems very slim. And I don't know if he'll coexist with the Klutch crew.

The GM definitely has the initials RP.

Itís just not Rob Pelinka. See the draft pick.

Breathe easier, LeBronís got this.

So Rusell had one good season....I know he looked good...but that's one season....so he is a Max player. Is everyone a max player who goes FA? And you'll be stuck with this kid for years. Maybe he's wonderful but he used to be a jerk.

Seems like there is too many max players...and if they aren't, their feeling get hurt. I think Max players were supposed to be like the top 6 guys? I think it's crazy. If you have two max'ed guys...and the Lakers want three...then you play with 4 guys & some nobodies or wasted up guys, because the cap wasn't set up to put all the good players on one team. I don't think we'll see another GS team, unless someone will play for something other than money. The GM's need to control this.

With this Max thing, you make one mistake & your shit. Think what would have happened if Howard had stayed...we might have missed the playoff for 6 years...wait...it couldn't be worse...could it?--Yohe

Max contracts were never Top 6 guys. Remember who was the highest paid player in the NBA for a while:

https://www.si.com/nba/2016/07/01/mike-conley-memphis-grizzlies-free-agent-contract-signs

Conley had never made 1st team All NBA before signing that contract.

Or 2nd team All NBA.

Or 3rd team All NBA.

Or even a freaking All Star games, where people get hurt all the time and have to skip it.

Not just a "Max Contract".

The Highest Paid Player In The NBA.

The Max is about the following things:

1. NBA Team has the Cap Space

Plus:

2. NBA Team feels they Have To Keep this guy; or
2.a NBA Team feels they Have To Sign this guy

Which ends up being more than 6 guys.

* * * * *

We also need to remember there are different types of Max Contracts:

A. Restricted Free Agent Max (i.e. coming off Rookie deal)
B. Restricted Free Agent Super Max (same, but you've been All NBA, MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, All Defense... in different degrees)

C. Unrestricted Free Agent Max
D. Unrestricted Free Agent Super Max

F. 10+ Year Veteran Unrestricted Free Agent Max
G. 10+ Year Veteran Unrestricted Free Agent Super Max

So for example, what Russell can get is A. Which is a lot lower than G.

There are also kickers like the extra year and money that can be given to you by the team that drafted you vs another team signing you. New Orleans could give more money to AS than the Lakers because they drafted him. This was to keep players from doing what AD just did - they would be leaving a ton of money on the table, allegedly. KD did that as well when leaving OKC, while Leonard did it as well by forcing a trade out of San Antonio. Players aren't all as greedy as Carmelo. ;)

Anyway, Russell is on the low end of the scale because he's still on his rookie contract, and his salary can only bump up so much.

Soooooo.

AD waived his trade kicker and they traded their junk to get a full max.

$32M

For Kawhi, Kyrie or Butler.

Or piecemeal it.

So Kawhi is meeting with Jeanie Buss and Magic Johnson next week. I find that very interesting considering the way Magic left the Lakers, and went on that rant about Pelinka.

Woj did clear that up saying since Magic isn't employed by the Lakers, he can't participate in free agent meetings.
