1980 NBA Finals LA Lakers vs 76ers - Game 6 (full)

Though of course Jabbar really should have been the MVP of the series. :)

I was working the night shift at the Burn Center in San Antonio Texas. I told the RN, to not bother me for two hours, and I watched in a break room. Catch up with my work after it was over. Kind of a unbelievable moment in sports. I was 32 at the time. I remember game 5 better. It was more dramatic & took the air out of Philly. --- Yohe

Kareem was better, but this performance deserved MVP.

And Magic was the best player for the next 4 titles and only got 2 of the MVPs, so it evened out.

Magic is becoming underrated as Kareemís numbers and college GOATness look greater as time passes.

Steve would say the game two years earlier to the day was the more important one:

Finally beating the Celtics, and doing it in the Evil Garden was the greatest thing he'd ever seen.

It was the greatest moment in my life.

John I found the Sports Illustrated for that gane, with the Lakers on the cover in my garage. You want it to hang in your room?

Looks like Bradley & Howard don't want to play. Fuck it lets just call it off.

Kyrie Irving is the biggest self-centered asshole in the NWA, who kills everything he touches. And Howard??? These guys are civil rights leaders? Good luck.--Yohe

Avery Bradley confirmed he won't join the team in Orlando. His possible replacement...

JR Smith.

Godspeed.

You can sign guys that played in the league this year. JR might have been bought out but he was contracted.

Iíd they not sign JR with Waiters already there.

Hopefully, Dwight will play. No Avery hurts, but could be a net positive if Caruso grows into the minutes.

Gonna be a long month.

I have a feeling that baseball "spring training" will blow up, which will blow up the NBA before the season restarts.

MLB doesnít have a plan, itís childlike wishing.

No bubble, just stay in home cities, travel and interact with families who interact with communities, some of which are in the midst of outbreaks.

The plan seems to be overwhelm the problem by doubling the rosters. Silly.

Does the bubble protect the NBA, a bit, but not if Disney employees arenít fully tested or in the bubble.

League could survive a bumpy ride if they can get to Lakers-Clips and Lakers-Bucks at the end. But I just donít see how outbreaks wonít take out entire chunks of teams.

I still stand by that the NBA, the NBA Owners, the NBA Players, the NBA Media Partners and the NBA Fans want to finish the season in overwhelming numbers. Sliding scale on what % for each group, but it's still extremely high.

On the other hand...

Covid is extremely difficult to control sans a shut down. A major key to control when people are in pubic together is making up and distancing as much as possible. It's a reason some countries are doing exceptionally better at it that we are.

Sports simply isn't going to do that when playing games, or practicing, etc. It puts things at high risk that if one get it, it will spread around quickly to others on the team and/or other teams. Being in a hotbed like Florida isn't going to help.

I also think at a certain point if there are teams being wiped out, or key players being wiped out, it no longer becomes the NBA playoffs. If Bron/AD goes down, Claw or PG13 goes down, or the Freak... it just isn't the playoffs.
