Wade capping Bruce over a column where he asked if Brodie Lee had COVID is quite something.

Guess Bruce had a hissy fit on Twitter before deactivating his account as well.

About to listen to Dave’s thoughts on it now.

I still feel Bruce was an excellent columnist at one point, but his audio stuff, between the ums and embarrassing hero worship of Flair/JCP, took him down a few notches for me.

Can’t call yourself a historian and believe all the fables from your childhood and territory.

Anyhow, pithy columns after a death are always going to be risky, but especially in the Cancel Culture era. Curious to see if Dave defends him or buries him.

That’s what Wade pimped him as and Bruce leans into it.

But his analysis of Flair/JCP is laughable at many times, jerking off the “outlaws” of the 70s and 80s, while also writing “Conscience of Pro Wrestling” columns and not seeing the irony.

More idiots in the South thought it was real for longer. Any analysis of that era and those territories should begin there.

Also, Dave played it down the middle. I hope for his sake Bruce’s hunch isn’t correct.

I'd be interested in Dave's opinions on the subject since he's friends with Bruce and was friends with Jon Huber and seems to have an idea as to what went on with Huber and what happened between Bruce and Wade.

I don't like Bruce Mitchell. And I base that off of personal experiences with him. And it didn't surprise me that he wrote such a reckless column.

Bruce is a wrestling journalist, but he's paid for his opinions instead of reporting stories. The problem problem for Bruce here is that his opinions turned into claims in this column. And they were very serious claims that he did not make any effort to substantiate.

I don't have a problem with somebody *thinking* that there may be a coverup. But to not make any effort to substantiate it is shitty. And that's the type of person Bruce is.

What stands out to me about the story is that Huber was at the Mayo Clinic and the Mayo Clinic isn't going to take an out-of-state patient who contracted COVID-19. That should have been something that prompted Bruce to think otherwise or try to get some sort of confirmation whether it be discussing with Pulmonologists about the situation and the chance a healthy 41-year old male could suddenly contract a lung disease that could kill a person so quickly.

But that would be the hard way to do things. That takes time, good sources and genuine effort. It's much easier to just throw out accusations without doing any of the work to back them up.

Does it really matter what you die from? Who gives a shit? The story that counts is your dead. Fuck everything else.

When Bruce came out to Calif for big wrestling shows, I liked the guy. He was cool. Of course, we all were elitist. Well Me, John, Bruce & Wade were. I don't know about James, and Dave didn't have to be. When your the top guy & everyone knows it, he has no need for that type of thing. But yeah, I'm a dick.

Anyway I wasn't bothered that Bruce said there were no such thing as a wrestling historian ,,,,and it was all BS because we never saw the wrestling we were talking about & crap like that. That didn't bother me, because I thought he didn't know anything himself.

But what bug me, was I heard him saying he wanted some type of Lucha mask, so I went home & got him one of mine. A La Parka mask or Liger, or something I don't remember. So I gave it to him. I was happy. Then later he said something to someone or wrote something....that he just gave it away to his cousin or someone. Yeah that hurt my feelings. I thought I was doing something nice for the guy. So fuck him .... who cares. That was like 25 years ago, he is probably wrinkled, bald & fat by now. Jim Cornett probably looks a lot better than him. Like Ric Flair old. ---- Steve Yohe

The docs kept testing him for COVID, which means they thought it was COVID. Endless fevers is what put him in the hospital.

It matters because if he got COVID, he likely caught it from on of the reckless AEW tapings, which he never should have been at because he had a lung issue.

Or he got a mysterious lung issue and just died.

Here's some key parts transcribed from an interview with Brodie Lee's wife, Amanda Huber. Warning...it's not an easy read.

https://411mania.com/wrestling/amanda-huber-addresses-criticism-brodie-lee-jr-aew-tv/

This is just fucking horrifying.

It appears that he was tested for COVID probably at least a handful of times by 2 hospitals, Urgent Care and AEW and all came up negative.

My guess is that he had some sort of infection (it may have been COVID) and it spread rapidly thru his system and because he didn't get medical attention quickly it spread rapidly and he was at the point of no return.

A few years ago I had bronchitis and I was at oxygen levels of 94 and it really sucked. I couldn't imagine being at 85 (about the worst level you want to go) or anywhere near 52 (where Huber was at).

As it pertains to Bruce, he should have actually asked what went on and got some sort of confirmation that he may be onto something before making such a thinly veiled accusation . His death has devastated his family, so making these accusations is a tough thing to do even if they are true...but without any evidence supporting the accusation screams of poor tact and somebody looking to get attention for a story at the expense of a family that lost their husband at 42 years old.
